Certified Hand Therapist

Lisa L. Owen completed her undergraduate degree in German from the University of New Hampshire and received a scholarship to teach English in Germany for a year. During that experience she realized that she wanted to do something different and was encouraged to learn about Occupational Therapy (OT) from her mother (who is a nurse).

Lisa earned her master’s of science in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in 2009 and has been practicing in upper extremity rehabilitation ever since. She earned a Certification in Lymphedema Therapy (CLT) in 2009 and a Certification in Hand Therapy (CHT) in 2015.

In 2017 Lisa founded her own continuing education company related to the practice of hand therapy and develop 3D anatomical models to use as teaching aides. She has presented for the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT), the New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Association (NHOTA), and is an adjunct faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Department at the University of New Hampshire (UNH).

Currently, Lisa balances her time between academia and clinical work. She is currently pursuing a post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree from Boston University and anticipates graduating in May 2023.
