Dr. Marino realized he wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon in medical school.
“I loved the variety of surgery and the patient population in orthopedics.”
Dr. Marino gets enormous satisfaction from getting athletes healed and back to the activities they love.
“I love taking care of young athletes and sports injuries.
He particularly likes the challenge and reward of taking care of fractures.
“You get a kid playing a lacrosse game and he has a fracture dislocation of his ankle. You can change his life by getting his ankle back together correctly. It takes a year, but he’ll get back on the field the next year. It’s very, very satisfying.”
Although there have been many changes in medicine since he started practicing, one thing hasn’t changed.
“The best thing about medicine is the patient. There will always be the patient. They will always need help. If they rip their tendon, they’ll never walk again if you don’t fix it. It’s helping the patients that will never go away. So that part of our job that I love will never change.”
Dr. Marino specializes in sports medicine and trauma fracture care.
