Marc Michaud, MD – Foot & Ankle Specialist Now Seeing Patients in Nashua

Dr. Marc Michaud seeing patients locally, so they don’t have to travel to Manchester.

Nashua, NH — November 7, 2013 — Dr. Marc Michaud is now seeing patients at New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center’s Nashua office. Dr. Michaud has been seeing patients for 10 years in Manchester but wanted to give Nashua-area patients more convenient access to care by a fellowship-trained foot and ankle sub-specialist.

“I really enjoy taking care of the foot and ankle,” said Dr. Michaud. “I love taking care of people and making them better, thus allowing them to return to their regular activities. By coming to Nashua, I am hoping to make it easier and more convenient for patients in the Nashua area to receive quality foot and ankle care.”

Dr. Michaud prides himself in giving each patient a thorough biomechanical evaluation. Unlike podiatrists, orthopaedic surgeons have four years of residency training in orthopaedic care of the entire body. Plus, Dr. Michaud did an additional year of specialized training in foot and ankle care at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Many conditions affecting the foot and ankle are caused by alignment abnormalities, which often can cause pain in other areas such as the knees, hips and spine. Dr. Michaud believes it is imperative that a surgeon evaluates the entire patient, even if they only complain of pain in their big toe.

Dr. Michaud is comfortable with any procedure involving bone abnormalities from the knee down to the toes. Common forefoot procedures include fracture care, bunion correction, hammer toe correction and care of arthritis of the forefoot; which includes joint replacement and fusions.

Common procedures that Dr. Michaud performs for the mid foot include bone fusions, fracture care, tendon transfers and realignment procedures that may be the result of trauma, flat-foot deformity or systemic diseases such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.

Common hind foot procedures include ankle replacements, ankle fusions, triple arthrodesis and subtalar joint arthrodesis for hind foot arthritis or deformities. Other procedures include fracture care, angular deformity realignment and arthroscopy of the ankle and subtalar joints.
